Essential Endocrine Health offers membership-based endocrinology care in Southeast Connecticut through a direct care model that gives you more time, easier access to your doctor, and care centered around your individual needs.
New Patient Consultation
Every patient begins with a comprehensive consultation designed to better understand your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. This visit allows time for a detailed evaluation and thoughtful discussion about the best path forward for your care.

Review of outside records and medical history
Discussion of current symptoms and concerns
Physical exam when indicated
Download and interpretation of CGMs and insulin pumps when applicable
Ordering of pertinent imaging and laboratory studies
15-minute follow-up phone call to review results and discuss the plan of care

This consultation helps determine the most appropriate plan for your care moving forward.
Please note:
No new prescriptions will be offered without a plan for ongoing care. Additional in-person visits and communication require membership or, when appropriate, non-membership visit fees.
During the consultation, Dr. Whelan will review your options for ongoing care. Membership is available to patients seeking long-term endocrine care through Essential Endocrine Health, while a non-membership option may be appropriate for patients who require only limited follow-up.

Membership is designed for patients who want a more consistent and personalized approach to endocrinology care, with the time, communication, and support needed to better manage their health.
Monthly Membership Fee: $120/month
Appointments and communication are offered as medically necessary and determined appropriate by Dr. Whelan.

What’s Included in Your Membership
Video, phone, and in-person follow-up visits are included as medically necessary to support symptom management and continued treatment.
Members have direct access to Dr. Whelan through phone, text, email, and patient portal communication for questions and guidance between visits when appropriate.
CGM and insulin pump downloads, interpretation, and related treatment adjustments are included as part of diabetes management.
We assist with prior authorizations, insurance appeals, and medication-related paperwork commonly required for endocrine treatment.
Membership includes completion of related medical letters and documentation when needed for your care.
Review and interpretation of laboratory studies and imaging related to your endocrine condition are included as part of treatment planning and follow-up.
Medication management and treatment adjustments are included to help support symptom control and long-term stability.
Non-Membership Option
The non-membership option is intended for patients who require only occasional follow-up visits and minimal care throughout the year.
